This sermon is an introduction to the Book of Hebrews as well as to angels. Why is the authorship traditionally believed to have been the Apostle Paul and why do modern scholars doubt that. Dr. Thiel addresses that and also points out that the Greco-Roman Catholics did NOT accept the canonicity of the Book of Hebrews until centuries after it was written as Cyprian of Carthage and Pope Innocent I (5th century) did not. Nor did Martin Luther or his followers. However, early Church of God leaders like Polycarp of Smyrna (1st/2nd century) accepted it from the beginning. Dr. Thiel goes over each verse of the first two chapters of the Book of Hebrews, and also includes comments from the late Herbert W. Armstrong. Topics covered included what Jesus is doing now as High Priest, being made a little lower than angels, that Christians are to rule the universe, what cherubim looked like, what Seraphim looked like, that Lucifer was the ‘anointed cherub,’ gifts of God’s Spirit, what angels are, when angels were created, feeding the hungry, various realities about Jesus, God’s government, and promises to those who really believe and obey.
