The dates for the United Nations Climate Change meeting called COP 27 are November 6th through 18th, 2022. During that time, on November 13, 2022, a 'Chrislam' type group composed of leaders from the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, and other faiths associated with the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development and the Elijah Interfaith Institute are making what they titled 'A Prophetic Call for Climate Justice' and are having a 'Ceremony of Repentance' on what is referred to as Mount Sinai, in Egypt. Does this sound like Gaia, mother goddess, worship? Are Christians supposed to have religious ceremonies with pagans? What did the Apostle Paul write? What did Jesus say would happen to the earth? Are humans, apart from God, going to solve climate problems before Jesus returns? Is there any type of false gospel associated with aspects of the climate change movement? Would obeying God solve the issues of pollution and climate change? What about the good news, the gospel of the Kingdom of God? Does the Bible have the solution to pollution? Does the Bible have the answer to solving climate change? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie discuss these issues.
A written article of related interest is available titled 'COP 27, the Climate Ceremony of Repentance, the Solution to Pollution, and How to Really Solve Climate Change'
COP 27, the Climate Ceremony of Repentance, the Solution to Pollution, and How to Really Solve Climate Change
Another Climate Change summit is about to be held:
November 2, 2022
As the world is distracted by rampant inflation, food and fuel shortages, and the war in Ukraine, global elites are preparing for their annual confab on the issue they consider most important: climate change. And nothing underscores the global elites’ commitment to sustainable development and the global poor like a climate conference located at a ritzy seaside resort, buttressed by a cordon sanitaire of police checkpoints to protect the conference’s thousands of well-heeled attendees.
Such will be this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP27, which will kick off on November 6 at Egypt’s swanky Sharm El Sheikh resort on the Sinai Peninsula. Unlike major Egyptian cities like Cairo and Alexandria, Sharm El Sheikh isn’t encumbered by slums, high crime, beggars, and all the other concomitants of Third World despotism. Like many such resorts in otherwise impoverished, despotic countries in the “global South,” Sharm El Sheikh is swathed in the sort of swanky luxuries that any reasonable elitist would expect for a gathering to address the plight of the poor: glistening beaches, five-star hotels, shimmering tropical seas, first-class bars and restaurants — and swarms of military and police to guarantee a sanitized experience, safe from the unwashed masses of the local poor and radical street protesters alike. … Norwegian activist Greta Thunberg will not be attending, decrying the hypocrisy … https://thenewamerican.com/global-elites-to-luxuriate-at-exclusive-resort-in-egypt-for-un-climate-change-conference/
What is COP?
COP stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’, which is a generic phrase in International Relations-speak meaning a committee created after an international treaty is signed, tasked with making decisions about how that treaty is implemented.
There are all kinds of COPs for various international agreements, from chemical weapons to combating desertification. But the term COP has come to be associated with the meetings of one particular committee: that created after the signing of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). https://www.globalwitness.org/en/blog/everything-you-need-know-about-cop/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwk5ibBhDqARIsACzmgLRxLaU_kEzC6n64q8NOk9mKU8ZECV1OD7QypPeCBzRIz19ZJILMuzAaAtxJEALw_wcB
A reader tipped me off to the following from the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development and the Elijah Interfaith Institute:
“Returning to Sinai” — A Prophetic Call for Climate Justice and Ceremony of Repentance
Sunday, November 13th, 2022, Mount SinaiIn parallel with the COP 27 UN Climate Conference
Between November 6th and 18th, 2022, the UN climate conference COP 27 will take place on the Sinai Peninsula, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Religious communities and religious leaders have a key role to play in addressing climate change and climate justice, which requires deep transformation within society. The knowledge of what changes are critically needed to diminish longterm harm to the planet is readily available. However, bringing about change in action demands deeper changes in attitude, a change of heart.
This has been the domain of religions for millennia. Religions are sources of inspiration for the transformation of heart and the ensuing changes of attitude.
To support, challenge and inspire discussions during COP 27 at Sharm El Sheikh, a weekend event will be held at Mount Sinai that will be heart-stirring, transformative and a moment of inspiration for religious communities and for humanity. Never before has such an
interreligious Climate Repentance Ceremony been undertaken. From this moment and event, motivation for action emerges, calling for reexamination of deep-seated attitudes and for identifying ways to transform these attitudes for the wellbeing of Earth, our common home. https://interfaithsustain.com/returning-to-mt-sinai/
Yes, the Earth is our common home.
Yes, the world’s religions wish to affect attitudes.
However, the religions of the world often overlook truth.
The reader who tipped me off about this said that he considered this to be Gaia, the mother earth goddess, worship. She is considered the personification of the Earth.
Greenpeace has reported that:
Gaia was the Greek goddess of Earth, mother of all life … 10/25/19 https://www.greenpeace.org/international/story/24978/gaia-ecology-earth-is-connected-rex-weyler/
Now, as far as repentance goes, we are to repent before the true God, not the Earth.
But many in the world do not understand.
Jesus warned:
8 “These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:8-9)
The Bible does not endorse RELIGIONS, plural. The religious groups that are expected to be part of the ceremony are from the Greco-Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, and other of the world’s faiths. Some have used the term ‘Chrislam’ to describe this Babylonian mixture.
Notice what the Apostle Paul wrote:
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
Notice that Christians are NOT to be linked with practices associated with paganism. Also notice:
17 Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you. (2 Corinthians 6:14-17)
Some, like Israeli politician Moshe Feiglin see what is happening with climate around the world as a new pagan religion.
I365News reported the following:
Climate, like Corona, is the ‘new paganism,’ Israeli Politician warns
November 2, 2021
Moshe Feiglin, an Israeli politician, Temple activist, and the leader of libertarian Zionist party Zehut, commented on COP26, describing it as a “new paganism”.
“In all its splendor, Israel sent 140 representatives to the climate conference,” Feiglin wrote in an op-ed in the Hebrew language Israel Tomorrow. “Only the American delegation was larger.”
“… Liberalism, communism, democracy – in the gospel of God on the one hand and its denial on the other – the Jew must always fix the world in some type of kingdom – if not the kingdom of God then in the kingdom of human paganism.”
“The Jews never rest.”
“Global warming, just like the Covid- is not a matter of scientific scrutiny but a code name for some new religion.
“You can be the most famous of the climate scientists but if you do not align with the desired religious conclusions concerning the climate crisis – you are immediately thrown into the category of stigma, thrown into the quarantine of lepers. You lose your honor, your professional status, your livelihood, your right to speak, and your right to earn a living. You cursed Muhammad.
“You may be the best epidemiologists, the top epidemiologist, the most famous of doctors, the Nobel prize-winning scientist who discovered the HIV virus, the inventor of mRNA himself – but if you do not align with the desired ‘religious’ conclusion about the corona crisis – you are immediately thrown into the pillory of disgrace. Your honor, your professional status, your livelihood, your right to speak, and your right to earn a living with dignity disappear as if they never existed … https://www.israel365news.com/201051/climate-like-corona-is-the-new-paganism-israeli-politician-warns/
Yes, as Moshe Feiglin stated, many have made a type of religion around climate and COVID matters. Science and scientists are pushed aside or otherwise ignored if they do not embrace the agendas or if facts that dispute the agendas are put forth.
That said, Christians should be stewards of the earth.
Notice:
15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. (Genesis 2:15)
Humans were to be stewards over God’s creation.
But humans have not been good stewards.
Humans need to live God’s way to correct this, but since they have refused for about 6,000 years (see also Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?), we have increasing pollution and other problems.
According to Jesus it is going to get worse:
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:21-22)
Humans are not properly tending the Earth. They are destroying it And they will be judged for it:
18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth. (Revelation 11:18)
Pollution, which tends to be caused by greed and/or ignorance (which is not always intentional), is destroying the Earth. Notice that it will take the return of Jesus to save the planet.
That being said, the United Nations has been pushing for religious and other cooperation work towards its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Notice some comments about that from our free online booklet titled: The Gospel of the Kingdom of God:
Does humanity have the solutions?
The world faces many problems.
Many people are hungry. Many people are oppressed. Many people face poverty. Many nations are in serious debt. Children, including unborn ones, face abuse. Drug-resistant diseases concern many doctors. Major industrial cities have air too polluted to be healthy. Various politicians threaten war. Terrorist attacks keep happening.
Can world leaders fix the problems facing humanity?
Many think so.
New Universal Agenda
On September 25, 2015, after a key-note speech by the Vatican’s Pope Francis, the 193 nations of the United Nations (UN) voted to implement the “17 Sustainable Development Goals” of what originally was termed the New Universal Agenda. Here are the UN’s 17 goals:
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Goal 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Goal 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Goal 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries
Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
This agenda is supposed to be fully implemented by 2030 and is also called the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It aims to solve ailments facing humanity through regulation, education, and international and interfaith cooperation. While many of its objectives are good, some of its methods and goals are evil (cf. Genesis 3:5). This agenda, also, is consistent with Pope Francis’s Laudato Si encyclical.
The “New Universal Agenda” could be called the “New Catholic Agenda” as the word “catholic” means “universal.” Pope Francis called the adoption of the New Universal Agenda “an important sign of hope.”
As a follow-up to the UN agreement, there was a meeting in Paris in December 2015 (officially titled 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change). Pope Francis also praised that international agreement and advised nations “to carefully follow the road ahead, and with an ever-growing sense of solidarity.”
Nearly all the nations in the world agreed to the Paris accords, which had specific environmental goals and financial commitments. (Then US President Barack Obama signed a document to commit the USA to this in 2016, but in 2017, US President Donald Trump stated that the United States would NOT accept the agreed to Paris accords. This caused international outrage and has helped isolate the US from Europe and many other parts of the world.) Pope Francis later stated humanity “will go down” if it does not make his changes related to the climate.
While no one wants to breath polluted air, go hungry, be impoverished, be endangered, etc., will human attempts to meet the goals of the United Nations’ 2030 agenda and/or the Paris accords solve the problems facing humanity?
Christians should try to pollute less and waste less. We should not litter. We should pick up after ourselves. We should try to insure our plastic trash does not blow into waterways or on the land. We should try to avoid, or minimize, the use of synthetic chemicals where it is feasible. And yes, we can separate trash for recycling, as well as try to reuse items instead of throwing them away and replacing them. We should live as Christian pacifists–human wars have long been a factor in pollution and destruction and this will get worse. We should live as Jesus and strive not to sin, while we look forward to, and teach, about the coming Kingdom of God.
While the globalists and those pushing interfaith agendas may make positive progress on some fronts, the prophetic reality is that the globalist agenda will result in a totalitarian society ran by one the Bible calls the Beast–it will push a horrible and pagan religion. This will lead to destruction on the earth.
As far as the problems facing humankind, the Kingdom of God is the Solution. Here is more from our free online booklet titled: The Gospel of the Kingdom of God:
There May Be Some Cooperation and Success, But …
Merriam Webster’s Dictionary states that utopia is “an imaginary place in which the government, laws, and social conditions are perfect.” The Bible teaches that humanity cannot solve its problems on its own:
23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. (Jeremiah 10:23, NKJV throughout unless otherwise indicated)
The Bible teaches that international cooperation will fail:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways; 17 And the way of peace they have not known. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. (Romans 3:16-18)
Yet, many humans are working towards their view of a utopian society and even sometimes try to involve religion. But almost none are willing to follow the ways of the one true God. It is not that there will be no progress towards any of the United Nations’ or the Vatican’s goals. There will be some, as well as some setbacks.
Actually, and probably after massive conflict, a type of international peace deal will be agreed to and confirmed (Daniel 9:27). When it is, many will falsely tend to believe that humanity will be bringing about a more peaceful and utopian society.
Many will be taken in by such international ‘utopian progress’ (cf. Ezekiel 13:10) as well as by various signs and wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). But the Bible says such peace will not last (Daniel 9:27; 11:31-44), despite what leaders may claim (1 Thessalonians 5:3; Isaiah 59:8).
The idea that, apart from Jesus, humanity can bring utopia in this ‘present evil age’ is a false gospel (Galatians 1:3-10). …
The ecumenical and interfaith movements that the United Nations, Vatican, many Protestants, and Eastern Orthodox leaders are promoting are clearly condemned by the Bible and should not be encouraged. Jesus warned of ones claiming to follow Him who would “deceive many” (Matthew 24:4-5). Much ecumenism is related to the “white horseman” of Revelation 6:1-2 (who is NOT Jesus) and the harlot of Revelation 17. …
Problems in the world, in places like the Middle East (despite expected temporal gains, e.g. Daniel 9:27a; 1 Thessalonians 5:3), will not be solved by humans—we need the peace of the Kingdom of God (Romans 14:17).
The problems of international terrorism, despite expected gains, will not be solved (cf. Ezekiel 21:12) by the deceived in the United Nations (cf. Revelation 12:9)—we need the joy and comfort of the Kingdom of God.
The problems of the environment will NOT be solved by international cooperation, as the world’s nations will help destroy the earth (Revelation 11:18), but they will be solved by the Kingdom of God.
Issues of sexual immorality, abortion, and selling human body parts will not be solved by the USA (cf. Revelation 18:13), but by the Kingdom of God.
The massive debt that the USA, UK, and many other nations have will not be solved through international brokering, but ultimately (after destruction per Habakkuk 2:6-8) by the Kingdom of God.
Ignorance and miseducation will not be solved by the United Nations—we need the Kingdom of God. Religious strife will not truly be solved by any ecumenical-interfaith movement agreeing to salvation apart from the true Jesus of the Bible. Sin is THE PROBLEM in the world and for that, we need Jesus’ sacrifice and His return in the Kingdom of God. Modern medical science does not have all the answers for human health—we need the Kingdom of God.

The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is consistent with the Pope Francis’ Laudato Si encyclical in areas of international cooperation, climate matters, and forced wealth redistribution in the Spring of 2015. While reducing pollution is good and international cooperation to do so can be very good, what we are seeing are more move towards socialism and world governance.
As far as religion goes, Pope Francis and many of the world’s churches have been involved in supporting the UN’s climate goals.
The head of the World Council of Churches basically (and wrongly) equated not supporting the climate change agenda as the unpardonable sin. A while back, we put the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:
The ‘Unpardonable Sin’ and ‘Climate Change’?
On September 7, 2016, Olav Fykse Tveit, Church of Norway Pastor, and the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, essentially declared that those who ignore ‘climate change’ are committing the ‘unpardonable sin’ against the Holy Spirit. Are those two even related? In this video, Dr. Thiel answers that and explains from the Bible what the ‘unpardonable sin’ is and how you can avoid it. He also discusses aspects of Christianity and the environment.
Here is a link to our video: The ‘Unpardonable Sin’ and ‘Climate Change’?
Pope Francis has repeatedly endorsed the UN agenda. He attempted to assist with it by making an encyclical titled Laudato Si. While it is not clear if it was he that pushed the UN to accept his views or the UN got him to accept its views, the reality is that both sides came up with essentially the same views. And these views had a lot to do with economic and societal control and not a huge amount of pollution-related actions.
Pope Francis, the World Council of Church’s (WCC) Olav Fykse Tveit, and others have been pushing a false gospel. We also made a video about that:
A Different False Gospel
While there have been a variety of false gospels since at least the time of Simon Magus and the Gnostics, there is a relatively new one being pushed by major leaders of the world’s churches. Essentially, leaders are teaching that ‘climate change’ is related to salvation, the unpardonable sin, and something called the ‘social gospel.’ This is being pushed by leaders including Pope Francis of the Church of Rome, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and Olav Tveit of the World Council of Churches. Is this a false gospel consistent with Galatians 1:6-11? Are these angels of light or something else (cf. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 )? While it is good to not pollute, will the ecumenical climate change agenda work according to the Bible? Dr. Thiel address these issues and more.
Here is a link: A Different False Gospel.
This false gospel is one that does not involve repentance towards God, does not require accepting Jesus as the only name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), nor does it embrace “the faith once delivered to the saints.”
Many are promoting a worldly view that without repentance, but through international cooperation of unconverted leaders, the world will be able to improve itself and solve its problems.
The Bible says that will not work.
Twice the Bible warns:
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12, 16:25)
The Bible teaches:
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; (Psalm 127:1)
While the WORLD’S churches and many politicians are involved in “Climate Action,” they, most often, have not have sought to go about it God’s way. They are laboring in vain. This does not mean that humans should waste resources or pollute, and some steps should be taken, but the thrust of the agenda is not to be proper biblical stewards of the earth. Instead, the details tend to focus on various controlling methods that are often not consistent with biblical morals.
There is a solution to pollution.
If the world’s religious leaders want to actually succeed, they need to repent and obey the true God. Notice the words of Moses:
19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; (Deuteronomy 30:19-20)
Yes, for life we need to OBEY the God of the Bible. Not conduct interreligious ceremonies with hints of paganism.
It will take God to truly fix the polluting and warring disasters that humans are causing through sin. Having the true God’s involvement is something that those leading the UN, interfaith movement, WCC, and Vatican do not believe or understand.
Jesus’s kingdom will be the solution to pollution. Notice what will happen:
3 For the Lord will comfort Zion,
He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.4 “Listen to Me, My people;
And give ear to Me, O My nation:
For law will proceed from Me,
And I will make My justice rest
As a light of the peoples.
5 My righteousness is near,
My salvation has gone forth,
And My arms will judge the peoples;
The coastlands will wait upon Me,
And on My arm they will trust. (Isaiah 51:3-5)
Yes, a better world is coming. The gospel of the kingdom of God brings hope.
The Bible shows that God uses weather matters, including high heat (Revelation 16:8-9) and what is often called climate change today (Amos 4:4-9) to encourage repentance and obedience to Him (Haggai 2:17).
Furthermore, the Bible shows how to resolve climate change:
3 ‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them,
4 then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
5 Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing;
you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
6 I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid;
I will rid the land of evil beasts,
and the sword will not go through your land. (Leviticus 26:3-6)
Yes, there is a biblical solution to climate change, but COP27 and the associated religious ceremony have overlooked that.
But, people will heed God and His ways during the millennial Kingdom of God.
Until the arrival of that Kingdom, all human beings should strive to obey God while being careful about waste and pollution. And all should also pray for God’s kingdom to come (Matthew 6:10).
