The Vatican, BRICS, and the Vatican Bank

The Vatican wants to be more in involved with the expanding BRICS alliance as the above tweet points out. Notice also the following from Crux, a Roman Catholic news source:

BRIC by BRIC, the foundation for Pope’s geopolitical endgame is being laid

ROME – One of the great Vatican success stories of the past half-century has been its exponential growth in diplomatic relations. When Pope John Paul II took office in 1978, the Holy See had full relations with 84 nations; with the latest addition of Oman in February, that total now stands at 184, meaning the Vatican has added a robust 100 countries in just 45 years. …

there are only eleven states left with which the Vatican does not have full diplomatic relations. In seven of those countries, there is no Vatican representative at all:

AfghanistanBhutanChinaMaldivesNorth KoreaSaudi ArabiaTuvalu

Meanwhile in four other states, there are apostolic delegates, meaning papal envoys to the local Catholic community but not, at least formally, to the government:

BruneiComorosLaosSomalia

Of those eleven holdouts, the big targets for the Vatican clearly are China and Saudi Arabia. …

In the future, August 2023 may come to be see as a turning point in paving the way for Vatican relations with both China and Saudi Arabia …

Moreover, a BRICS coalition containing not just Brazil but also Argentina may be in a stronger position to make the case to Xi that the Catholic Church, and specifically the Vatican, can be an asset at least as much as an irritant. Lula, a close friend and political ally of Francis, may be in a particularly strong position to help press that argument.

As far as Saudi Arabia is concerned, it’s already rethinking its traditional diplomatic nostrums. …

from the Vatican’s point of view in the Pope Francis era, the BRICS growth is hopeful not only as a harbinger of a more multilateral world, but also one in which the final holdouts on diplomatic relations with the Holy See may finally be induced to come on board — because, under Francis, a gain for the Vatican is no longer necessarily seen as a gain for the West, and certainly not for the U.S. 08/27/23 https://cruxnow.com/news-analysis/2023/08/bric-by-bric-the-foundation-for-popes-geopolitical-endgame-is-being-laid

Pope Francis is from Argentina. And Argentina, along with Saudi Arabia, have both been approved to join the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) alliance. Notice that Crux has observed that this expansion is not a gain for the US, but that is fine for the Vatican.

The interest in BRICS along with the increase of the Vatican’s diplomatic connections bring to mind the following prophecies:

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” (Revelation 17:1-2)

9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. … 15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”  (Revelation 17:9, 14-18)

Related to Revelation 17, the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, said the following on a radio broadcast:

John, who sees these things in vision and records what he sees, he sees the events that come on the earth, the prophesied events in vision. And this angel of the seven last plagues said to John, in this vision, come hither; I will show thee the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters.

Now that’s not a pure church, that’s not the church of God. There is the tool of the devil. That is the church that Satan can use! With whom the Kings of the earth have committed fornication. What made her a great Whore? It’s a spiritual matter. A church is regarded as a spiritual instrumentality, a spiritual collective body of people, and this is spiritually speaking. Her fornication here has been of a spiritual nature. Now, the church is at least professes to be and it’s supposed to be in God purpose and plan, the financed bride of Jesus Christ. There is to be a wedding, a marriage at the second coming of Christ and He is to marry the church. Now, He is the head of the church. It doesn’t mean that He’s the head and the church is the rest of the body, either, but he is the head the same way that a husband is the head of a wife. And so, here we find that the thing that made her a fallen woman, was having this fornicating relationship with the Kings of this earth. …

Christ … He is coming to rule the world. But here is a church that didn’t wait for Him. That had a relationship with another lover. And instead of letting the lover that she had this fornicating relationship with, the kings of this earth, rule her, she ruled those kings. https://www.hwalibrary.com/cgi-bin/get/hwa.cgi?action=getbroadcast&InfoID=1332605223&SearchWhat=KeyWord&SearchFor=The%20Feasts%20of%20Trumpets%20and%20Your%20Future&NoShow=&page=148&return=search

In an article, Herbert W. Armstrong wrote:

The Babylonian mystery religion (Rev. 17:5) became a Rome-based religion, persecuting true Christian believers. …    The prophecy continues to explain that the seven heads are seven mountains (or peaks of the kingdom) on which the church sat. … this Holy Roman Empire had been in “the bottomless pit” (a condition of virtual nonexistence) out of which it was to ascend in one last seventh peak, and cause WONDERMENT in the world (verse 8).  And when finally resurrected in this seventh phase, this Roman union of church and state will continue ONLY A VERY SHORT TIME. (Armstrong HW. Supernatural Forces on a Collision Course! WHAT NOW? Plain Truth, January 1979)

Herbert W. Armstrong considered the Church of Rome was the unfaithful harlot church.

Note: Even according to Roman Catholic scholars, the above is referring to Rome–though they tend to consider it ancient Rome as opposed to what the Church of Rome is doing.

One of the reasons I am making this post about the Vatican and BRICS is that I saw the following speculative article today:

THE VATICAN: JUST ANOTHER BRIC IN THE WALL

August 30, 2023

The Vatican and its relationship to the BRICS nations, a subject that assumes some importance particularly with the recently announced expansion of that bloc by the addition of six new nations, and because of the recent conclusion of a trade between Russia and India for oil, in which the oil was paid for, not in American dollars, but in Indian rupees …

Here’s one version of that story:

BRIC by BRIC, the foundation for Pope’s geopolitical endgame is being laid

As usual in such articles, we get the political and financial, and ignore (completely) the theological and cultural (which we’ll get back to, because in reality, the Vatican’s moves, while impacting the political and financial, cannot be comprehended anywhere close to adequately without the theological and cultural):

By all accounts, China under Xi Jinping was the driving force behind the BRICS expansion, as a key expression of its overall strategic aim of countering Western control of the global economy and major world institutions. China’s aspiration is to build a more multilateral world order, one not exclusively denominated in dollars and not dominated by the United States.

As it happens, that vision dovetails fairly neatly with Pope Francis’s agenda for global affairs. In a recent interview, the pope described himself as a “stone in the shoe” to many for his criticism of empires – and, since he was speaking in the context of Latin America, it was fairly clear which “empire” in particular he had in mind.

Increasingly, China may come to see the Vatican under Francis as an ally in the effort to build an alternative to the Western world order. Naturally, the pope’s willingness to sign and stand by a controversial agreement with China over the appointment of bishops in the country, despite difficulties in its application, augments the impression of common cause, as does the rough alignment between Rome and Beijing on the conflict in Ukraine.

Then there’s Saudi Arabia and its little-known problem of a growing Christian population:

Saudi interest in an arrangement with the Vatican may also be enhanced by the expanding Christian footprint in the country, currently estimated at 2.1 million people out of a total population of 36 million. Most are foreign workers from countries such as the Philippines, Lebanon, Sri Lanka and India. The Saudis, who crave stability, may see a deal with the Vatican as a way to regularize their status.

And finally, there’s the growing problem of the much-anticipated and touted possibility of a BRICS “currency”:

Certianly the project of a unified BRICS currency as an alternative to the American dollar doesn’t seem to be getting off the ground anytime soon. Ironically, Argentina enters the alliance at a moment when its leading presidential contender, Javier Milei, actually is is proposing to move in the other direction, scrapping the Argentine peso and replacing it with the dollar.

Let’s start with the issue of a BRICS currency and the fact that Russia has been wanting to base it on gold. …

Such a unit-of-account would be the BRICS equivalent of the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) in use in the central banks of the west.  And as for that military-logistical agreement between Japan and India which I blogged about some time ago, you can bet your bottom yen or rupee that the financial clearing of such an agreement will not be denominated in dollars, should either country ever enact that agreement. In short, that agreement alone is a significant indicator that such a unit-of-account already exists.

The stories about a potentially gold-backed BRICS “currency”  are, in  my opinion, stories about how that unit of account might be rolled out as an actual currency.  One way, perhaps, might be via the creation of “regional reserve currencies”.  But howsoever it  might be done, it brings us to the Vatican:

For the Vatican’s presence in those countries with which it has any diplomatic relations, including in BRICS nations (or want-to-bemembers) like Brazil or Argentina, the Vatican Bank, The Institute for Religious Operations, will have to be able to trade and clear in that unit of accounts with the BRICS nations. Or to put that same proposition rather differently, if the BRICS nations want to have that unit of account gradually transform into a viable currency, it will have to obtain a global status and “reach”, and what better way to achieve that than through the Vatican and its bank, and the almost total global reach of the Vatican? …

Finance thus becomes an ally not only in the maintenance of that office but in the extension of its political and cultural power and effects, including the blessing and sanction and use of any currency or unit of account vying for reserve currency status, or at  least, for “alternative reserve currency status.”

…and wait for it, because it could very well be coming: the “papal ‘ok'” for the use of a central bank digital currency “backed” by gold, just so long as the Vatican is involved with it… https://gizadeathstar.com/2023/08/the-vatican-just-another-bric-in-the-wall/

The BRICS nations clearly want to topple the dominance of the US and its dollar. Notice the following which is in my book Lost Tribes and Prophecies: What will happen to Australia, the British Isles, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the United States of America?:

Those in Iran and some of the Arab lands, along with nations such as Brazil, China, and India have discussed plans for the removal of the dominance of the U.S.A. in global trade as well. The former (again current) President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, even claimed that eliminating the U.S. dollar’s reserve currency status was one of the reasons that the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) was formed in the first place. [i] Others have  noted that bypassing the USA dollar is still an object of BRICS—and officially BRICS nations “are currently working on setting up a new global reserve currency,”[ii] which may have gold-backing.[iii] The expansion of BRICS (which is in progress) may ultimately even hurt Australian trade as well as “severely weaken primacy of the US Dollar as an international currency.”[iv]

The Bible clearly warns against cheapening the money supply and encourages having money hold its value (Proverbs 25:4 Isaiah 1:25, Ezekiel 22:18-22). Debt is also warned against (Habakkuk 2:6-8). Yet policies enacted under the Obama, Trump, and Biden Administrations, following certain other administrations, have ignored these warnings.

One day the US dollar will be toppled. But let me add that the Bible teaches that a coming European power will accumulate gold too (cf. Daniel 11:38,43; see also The Plain Truth About Gold in Prophecy. How Should a Christian View Gold?).

Consider also that gold is the one commodity that the BRICS nations (all of which are Gentile) and much of the world will accept as currency.

Back in 2013, a few days after Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis, he made the following statement:

“Oh, how I would like a poor Church, and for the poor.” http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/16/us-pope-poor-idUSBRE92F05P20130316

He has repeatedly told others to give to the poor. But in his ten years as pontiff, the Vatican still retains its vast wealth and has not loosened its own purse strings significantly beyond what previous pontiffs did.

While on the surface the Pope’s words are what a ‘lamb’ may say, could it be part of the speech of a dragon (Revelation 13:11)?

So far, Pope Francis has repeatedly made statements about the poor (e.g. Laudato Si: Pope’s Agenda or Kingdom of God? and Pope tells United Nations to push wealth redistribution–a sign of Revelation 13 & 17?), but has not done much that seems tangible that way.

The Bible tells about an unfaithful harlot church that wallows in wealth (Revelation 17:1-9, 18:7).

It may well be that the Vatican and its bank may help facilitate the replacement of the USA dollar.

This may be done via BRICS support, but also perhaps by pledging assets to support the coming European Beast power when it may face an economic crisis.

Either or both of those ways look to be consistent with scripture.

Although BRICS will not dominate the world economically like the coming European Beast power will, the BRICS nations and their decisions will have major impacts on the world (watch our video: BRICS and the Woes of Revelation).

Steps to change the Anglo-American dominated world order are occurring.

And the Vatican is involved.

As Jesus said: “And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:37).
