Seven churches are discussed in the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation, also known as the Apocalypse. They are Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea of Asia Minor (located in the country of Turkey at this time). Are the messages to them at all prophetic? Could those seven churches represent the entire church age? Could these give clues about the history of the true church as well as apostolic succession? Were there groups throughout the church age that have kept the seventh-day Sabbath, Passover on the 14th, and held to Church of God doctrines on the Godhead and crosses? Does the New Testament teach that there would be factions in the true church? Could there be specific eras of each church dominating a period of time? What time? What have Roman Catholic and Church of God leaders taught about them? What do the Eastern Orthodox teach about the "seven church councils" beginning with Emperor Constantine's Council of Nicea? What does the Continuing Church of God teach about itself and the seven church of Revelation 2 & 3? Are there any Philadelphians left--those who have kept Jesus word, as well as going through the open door to be a witness in accordance with Matthew 24:14? Are most 21st century Christians Laodicean? Why is this important to know? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues and more in this sermon.
